Our experiences are designed for complete beginners who want to try pottery in a relaxed, social setting. Whether you're looking for a unique date night or a creative activity with friends, our expert instructors will guide you through the basics of wheel throwing.

Choose between our afternoon or evening sessions, each offering 1.5-2 hours of hands-on wheel time. You'll learn centering, shaping, and create your own piece to take home. We provide all materials, tools, and professional instruction—just bring your creativity and sense of adventure.

Every piece you create will be professionally glazed and fired, ready for collection approximately 3 weeks after your session. All materials, firing, and expert guidance are included in the price. Perfect for gifts, special occasions, or testing the waters before committing to a course.

Perfect for those who prefer daytime activities, our Wheel Afternoon sessions offer a calm, focused introduction to pottery. Spend 2 hours learning the fundamentals of wheel throwing in our light-filled foundry studio, creating your own ceramic piece to take home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience?

No. Both experiences are designed for complete beginners. Our instructors will guide you through every step.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing you don't mind getting clay on. Avoid loose sleeves and long jewelry. Tie back long hair. We provide aprons.

Can I bring my own drinks?

You're welcome to bring soft drinks. We don't permit alcohol in the studio for safety reasons.

How many pieces will I make?

Typically 1-2 pieces depending on the session length and your pace. Quality over quantity—we focus on teaching proper technique.

When can I collect my finished pieces

Approximately 3 weeks after your session. We'll contact you when they're ready for collection.

What colours are available?

We have 15-20 food-safe glazes in natural tones: whites, creams, blues, greens, browns, blacks.

Can I book for a group?

Yes! Maximum 10 people per session. For larger groups or private bookings, see our Private Events page.

Is parking available?

Street parking around Melrose Yard plus nearby car parks. 10-minute walk from city centre.

What's the age requirement?

16+ years. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult also attending the session.
