Clay Space membership gives you the freedom to practice at your own pace with access to our professional studio seven days a week. Whether you're developing new techniques, building a body of work for sale, or simply enjoying the meditative rhythm of the wheel, you'll have the space and time you need.
We offer two membership tiers to suit different schedules and ambitions. Both include access to our ten professional pottery wheels, dedicated shelf storage, expert guidance when needed, access to our Glaze & Oxide Class, and membership of our supportive WhatsApp community where makers share tips, celebrate successes, and coordinate studio time together.
All memberships include kiln access with generous monthly firing allowances, space to store your house clay, use of studio glazes and tools, and the peace of mind that comes with knowing your work has a safe, dedicated home. This is your studio. We're here to support your journey.

Potters Membership is designed to give new and established potters the freedom to develop their skills and style at a pace that suits them.
With access to our Glaze & Oxide Class, it's a cost-effective way to embrace the practice after finishing a course with us. Spreading your 24 hours of studio access across the month helps busy potters stay organised and make work in a timely manner.

For Dedicated Makers
Makers Membership works for creatives making regularly for sale, preparing for markets or exhibitions.
With unlimited studio access, 2 large storage boxes, and 180 litres of firing allowance (subject to fair use), this membership gives you the freedom to develop substantial bodies of work. It includes access to individual responsive staff troubleshooting, Glaze & Oxide Class, and complimentary access to our Pot & Cocktails nights for 1 (limited to 4 members per event).

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply for membership?
Click "Apply Now" on your preferred tier. We'll contact you to arrange an induction session where we'll show you the studio, explain our systems, and answer any questions.
What if I've never used a pottery wheel before?
We recommend completing our 9 Week Wheel Course before applying for membership. This ensures you have the foundational skills to work independently and safely.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my membership?
Yes. You can change tiers with one month's notice after your initial 3-month commitment period.
What happens if I don't use all my hours?
Potters Membership hours don't roll over month-to-month, but you can plan your visits to make the most of your allowance throughout each month.
Are firings included?
Memberships include generous monthly firing allowances: 100 litres for Potters Members and 180 litres for Makers Members. Additional firing is available if you exceed your monthly allowance.
What about clay?
Members purchase their own house clay, which they store at the studio. You have access to use studio glazes and tools.
What's the shelf storage like?
We provide generous, dedicated storage boxes—Potters Members receive 1 large box, Makers Members receive 2 large boxes. You'll have reliable space for your work in progress.
What's the Glaze & Oxide Class?
All members have access to our Glaze & Oxide Class, where you can learn about glaze application, oxide decoration, and surface treatments for your work.
What's the WhatsApp community like?
Our WhatsApp group is a supportive space for sharing glazing tips, celebrating kiln openings, coordinating studio time, and arranging meet-ups. It's optional but highly valued by members.
What's the cancellation policy?
After your initial 3-month commitment, you can cancel with one month's notice.
Is parking available?
We have no on-site parking. Nearest parking is at YO1 9PZ. Street parking is available around Melrose Yard, approximately 10 minutes' walk from city centre.
What are the opening hours?
Seven days a week, 10am-5pm. Members can book their studio time within these hours.
